reading Cisneros’s dad’s quotes, Cisneros seems to define them differently than
her dad. Her dad is looks as old school but that might’ve not been the case. He
wanted her to have a good education. He said work with your brain not with your
hands, like her mother never got the chance. Cisneros always saw her dad distant
but he wanted her to have a husband and have stability. He was trying to
encourage to be stable but not discourage from getting an education. He was
only speaking the language he knew. Speaking from what his father taught him,
he is not being insensitive, she was brought up in a new generation she can’t
see his point of view.
